Initially, the site consisted of asphalt paving with dated security fencing and very few areas for plant material.  Furthermore, the vast areas of asphalt were ineffective at delineating customer parking along the front of the building, creating confusion for the customers and potential conflicts turning around and merging onto East Main Rd.

The design approach was to remedy the functional deficiencies of the site in an aesthetically pleasing way in order to capitalize on the sites high visibility.  The size of the showroom was chosen to reflect many of the smaller exterior spaces so common to Newport homes.  This showroom would help customers visualize the potential of their property, creating confidence and excitement to invest in their outdoor living spaces.
